Some new pallete ideas

September 8th Show

I should have about 18 new pieces done before the show opens. i have 11 done right now

Rough Draft

Here is what i am looking at. these are rough photos with alot of glare and the pieces are unfinished, but i am placing them on a background color in case i have to adjust the palette to fit.

I plan on painting the wall behind the piece with some color.

Modernist View

I like the approach of the modernist architects who reduced buildings to pure form. They removed historical references and ornamentation and instead they used  functional details. Perfect proportions and I love the overhangs.

Palette for one of the “Mid Day” paintings

This is one part of a two piece painting for the middle of the day. bright and vibrant every color seems exaggerated. Shadows are dark and defined

Palette for “Sunrise”

Working out the palette for the “Sunrise” painting. the palette from all five pieces must be related and work together to create a cohesive bond of color. a relationship defined by the unique light of southern California.

Palette for “Sunset”

I am working out the palette for “Sunset”. The orange gold glowing base will compliment the colors that will come over the top. The sun is setting , light fades and everything becomes less defined. The bright colors are a reminder of the day we just experienced and the darks lean towards the coming night.
